A Message from our President
Dear WEN Members and Supporters,
What an honor to be serving you this year that we celebrate our Twentieth Anniversary! I am amazed
at all the organization has accomplished, and it would not have been possible without you.
The WEN vision statement is one we can all be passionate about: to be the premier global organization that educates, attracts, retains, and develops professional women working across the energy value chain.
The Women’s Energy Network is doing just that! We are educating women from entry into the energy profession with our university chapters to the mid-level career professional with our lunches featuring executives with energy insight to our most senior women with executive thought-leadership breakfasts. We are attracting women to our profession in numerous ways including the Young Women Energized program aimed at highlighting the numerous career opportunities for women in energy, our annual scholarships, and our student chapters. We are retaining professional women in our industry by providing numerous development, educational, and networking opportunities through monthly lunches, mentoring circles, volunteer opportunities, leadership conferences, and we'll debut podcasts offering career -building skills. We are developing and supporting professional women by offering dozens of leadership opportunities, hundreds of speaking opportunities, an expansive network, and executive tier events through our Executive Members and Advisory Council.
Aren’t you tired just reading that? Well, we’re doing it because of you! That’s right, in Houston alone we have over 140 volunteers leading and refining programs every year. You are WEN!
My desire for the organization as we move forward is that we would be each other’s biggest advocate. Business is built as much on who you know as what you do, so let’s use this network to leverage our career success.
In a world that can be full of criticism, let me offer WEN as a place of development, support, encouragement, advocacy, and connection. I’m optimistic that every goal can be surpassed and every record broken with the right set of supporters. WEN is here to cheer you on!
With my deepest thanks and most enthusiastic vote of confidence,
Gindi Eckel Vincent
2014 WEN Houston President
