As the largest district energy provider in North America, Vicinity’s district energy business in Philadelphia has been operating in the city for decades, providing low-carbon energy for scores of buildings in Center City, while also lowering Philly’s carbon footprint by nearly 300,000 tons annually—the equivalent of removing 65,000 cars from the roads every year.
The district energy system in Philadelphia is comprised of steam, hot and chilled water, and electricity production plants, including cogeneration – a highly efficient and sustainable form of energy production pioneered by Thomas Edison.
Learn more about district energy, our net zero 2050 vision and recent greening milestones, and how district energy electrification is the next energy inflection point.
Plant Tours and Presentations: 4:30 – 6 PM
Networking and refreshments: 6 – 7 PM
The tour will cover our plant components, specifically the turbines we use in steam creation. The presentation will cover an overview of our Philadelphia operations and a roadmap of our decarbonization efforts now and for the next few decades as we head toward goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Please Note: Remember, no open toes shoes or heels. All other PPE will be provided (hard hats, earplugs, safety glasses (we have some that fit over glasses). NO VIDEO OR PHOTOGRAPHY PLEASE. Feel free to reach out to Erin Baker ([email protected]) or 318-218-2259 with any questions.
