WENPGH Virtual Book Group
In June of 2020, Women’s Energy Network Greater Pittsburgh began hosting monthly Book Group Meetups for our WEN members virtually. During the height of the covid pandemic, providing this virtual option gave members across all chapters a chance to connect over one of our favorite past-time activities, reading! We’ve also been fortunate to have notable guest authors such as Pittsburgh native, Marie Benedict, join us to discuss one of her New York Times Bestselling Books, The Other Einstein. These virtual meetups are hosted by Angela Lundy, WENPGH Membership Retention & Development Director, and Meronaca Davis, WENPGH Communications Director. When asked how this came about, Meronaca aptly pointed out, “Our love for books brought us together to provide a wonderful outlet for members to connect during a time when connection is vital in our WEN community. We’ve had members tell us the book club has exposed them to different genres they would likely have never read if it wasn’t for our selections. While we try to have a variety of genres are members would be interested in reading, we also make a point to include historical fiction, based on inspiring diverse women who have made an impact in our world.” WEN members can vote on book selections via the WENPGH Book Group Meetup Facebook page every other month, and this is also a place where you can post suggestions for future books. Angela and Meronaca also choose a “WEN Pick” on alternating months. The WENPGH Virtual Book Group Meetups are open to WEN members across all chapters to attend and typically takes place on the first Wednesday of every month. Go to the WEN Events page to sign up for our next virtual book group event!

Staying Connected with WEN
With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, WEN Greater Pittsburgh is looking at new ways to stay connected with its members. In April, WEN Greater Pittsburgh hosted two virtual events – WEN Table: Finding Your Personal Balance Webinar and Wellness with WEN: How to Stay Active and Healthy While Social Distancing.
The WEN Table event focused on an open discussion of various topics including how to build a solid support system, staying on track to meet one’s personal and professional goals, and how to remain successful while working remotely during COVID-19.
The Wellness with WEN event was the second in a series of events aimed at promoting the physical, emotional and financial well-being of WEN members. Participants learned nutrition tips and tricks and did a 30-minute Barre Blend class virtually hosted by Beachbody Coach Tara Meek, National President Elect, and Bridget Johnson, WEN Greater Pittsburgh Board Member. WEN Greater Pittsburgh will be hosting a virtual Wellness with WEN: Financial Wellness event next month on May 6, 2020. Sign up here!
