Young Women Energized

What is Young Women Energized?
For twenty (20) years, Women’s Energy Network of Houston (WENH) outreach program, Young Women Energized (YWE) has worked to empower young women to seek degrees and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) with exciting programs designed to inspire high school young women and support their career ambitions, with the focus on the benefits of studying STEM and joining the Energy Industry.    The program has received many accolades, including being named the 2019 Best Outreach Program by World Oil.

YWE 2022 will be virtual! Save the date – Saturday October 15th, 10am – 1pm
Full program, speakers, resources and key information for this year's event will be posted soon.

And amazing sessions to follow will include but not limited to:

  • What is STEM, what career options exist and how to focus your college ambitions
  • Learn and gain valuable insights from industry experts — engineers, scientists, technology professionals, lawyers, accountants, and more
  • Understand how to write remarkable essays
  • Hear from and engage with previous YWE scholarship winners and how college has changed their lives

Did we mention Scholarships?

Each year, YWE awards ten (10) young women a one-time $10,000 scholarship to pursue a degree in STEM.  The $10,000 scholarships will provide support, encouragement, and opportunities for these ladies to  “Reimagine Tomorrow” and earn their STEM degree; thereby changing their lives and the communities in which they live.   Through its programs, WEN is committed to introducing high school students to careers in energy, helping to fuel the industry’s need for top talent in the future.

The scholarship application submission period for 2023 scholarships opened on March 7th, 2022. Thank you in advance for your interest.

Recipients of this prestige scholarship will be notified on or about October 30th, 2022.
