She has 17 years of business/intangible asset valuation experience. Kellie has managed and conducted valuation engagements for the purposes of mergers and acquisitions, financial and tax reporting, gift and estate tax planning and compliance, dispute advisory, and strategic business planning purposes. She developed her oil and gas experience by working directly with the KPMG Oil and Gas industry leader for over 8 years. Her energy experience includes upstream, midstream, oilfield services and power.
One of the most exciting times during her career was being selected as the Valuation Services representative for a three year rotation in KPMG’s Audit Quality and Professional Practice Group, providing assistance to teams on technical valuation, accounting and audit topics, on a national and global basis.
Kellie completed her MS in Finance and BBA in Management (HR) from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!). She also holds the Accredited Senior Appraiser in Business Valuation / Intangible Assets designation.
Carly HewettCommunity Education Outreach Co-ChairPartner, Childers Hewett Slagle PLLCCarly grew up in Austin, Texas, and is a founding partner of Childers Hewett Slagle PLLC. After earning both a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Finance degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Carly moved back to Austin and worked for Ernst & Young LLP as an external auditor, focusing on real estate. While she is not currently practicing accounting, she is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. After 3 years in public accounting, Carly moved to Dallas to attend law school at SMU Dedman School of Law where she focused her studies on oil and gas. During law school she served as an Associate Managing Editor on the SMU International Law Review Association.
Carly has been practicing oil, gas, and energy law her entire legal career, and primarily represents oil and gas companies in their exploration and production operations, with an emphasis on title examination and transactional matters. She has extensive experience drafting curative instruments, assignments and other conveyancing documents, joint operating agreements, and farmout agreements. Carly has advised clients during the acquisition and divestiture process of surface, mineral, and leasehold interests, and has drafted various instruments related to the settlement of such matters. Her experience in the energy industry also includes matters related to surface use, including drafting surface use agreements, conducting due diligence for pipeline projects, and drafting easements. She has also assisted clients in conducting probate procedures in both Texas and New Mexico.
Carly has been married to her husband, Clayton, since 2014, and they have one son, Carter. Carly and her family have spent countless hours volunteering for Rodeo Austin through her life, and she enjoys returning to Austin each March to attend the rodeo and assist at the youth auction.
