Young Women Energized
Young Women Energized (YWE) has worked to empower young women to seek degrees and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) with exciting programs designed to inspire high school young women and support their career ambitions, with the focus on the benefits of studying STEM and joining the Energy Industry.
The program has received many accolades, including being named the 2019 and 2021 Best Outreach Program by World Oil.
What is the Young Women Energized Scholarship program?
The Women’s Energy Network (WEN) Permian Basin Chapter sponsors several one-time awards to exemplary high school junior and senior girls from the Permian Basin area. WEN is committed to introducing high school students to careers in energy through its programs, helping to fuel the industry’s need for top talent in the future. Essay submissions and applications are due on October 28, 2022.

What happens at the YWE event on November 1st?
The event is multifaceted. Dr. Sandra (Sandy) K. Woodley, President
The University of Texas Permian Basin will be the featured speaker for 2022. Women currently working in the oil and gas industry will sit at tables with the student and be available to discuss career development and the importance of continued education. The event will close with announcing scholarship award winners. The scholarships will be awarded based on submission of transcripts and an essay submitted prior to the event.
Each year, YWE awards several young women a one-time scholarship to pursue a degree in STEM. The scholarships will provide support, encouragement, and opportunities for these ladies to earn their degree; thereby changing their lives and the communities in which they live. Through its programs, WEN is committed to introducing high school students to careers in energy, helping to fuel the industry’s need for top talent in the future.
Eligible applicants are female, graduating high school
seniors from the Permian Basin area with exemplary academic records and
demonstrated leadership potential. Eligible applicants must plan to attend an
accredited four-year university or accredited two-year community college in the
Fall of 2023 as a fulltime student. A letter of acceptance, proof of
registration and payment instructions from the university must be presented to
WEN’s scholarship panel prior to disbursement of awards.
The scholarship application submission period for 2023 scholarships will be opened until October 17, 2022. Thank you in advance for your interest.
