WEN Carolinas would like to announce the kick-off our DE&I Book Club series. We know that in order for change to occur, it is imperative that platforms exist that offer conversations that are both thought provoking and sometimes difficult.
We want to ensure that we are moving the needle on Diversity, Equality, & Inclusion and offering information that will spark views that invite those changes to happen. This Book Club will include both books and podcasts that will hopefully lead to discussions that will facilitate growth and enlightenment in all those who participate. We look forward to what is to come!!
Our first recommendation is, “What if I Say the Wrong Thing?: 25 Habits for Culturally
Effective People”, by Verna A. Myers. “In this compelling tip book, you’ll find innovative and surprising ways to keep your personal diversity journey moving and the diversity commitment of your organization. Written to make this information bite-size and accessible, you will find quick answers to typical What should I do? Questions, like: What if I say the wrong thing, what should I do? What if I am work and someone makes a sexist joke, what should I say?” ~Amazon
The Book can be purchased on Amazon or can be lent out from your local library. Directions on how to use virtual library resources for an e-book or audio version can be found on your library's website, but we recommend apps such as Libby, Hoopla, and Overdrive. Reading the book is recommended but not required to participate in the discussion.
Thank you for joining us on this journey for change!
