Hydraulic Fracturing, How It's Done and Why it Works
This presentation will focus one three topics. First, how oil and gas reservoirs store hydrocarbons in the subsurface. The various equipment and process used in a hydraulic fracturing treatment. Lastly, the mechanics of why hydraulic fracturing works and why the treatment improves a well's ability to produce economic quantities of oil and gas.
Pat Handren graduated from Texas Tech University and began his 39 year career in the oilfield in 1981. He worked for Sun Gas Company (which became Oryx Energy Company) and concentrated on becoming an expert in well completions and stimulation. Over the course of his career he has worked for several companies including Carbo Ceramics inc., Ascent Energy Company and Denbury Resources Inc. He has given talks throughout the industry to a variety of audiences. Pat has authored and co-authored Numerous technical papers, and is an author for a US Patent on perforating. Pat retired from Denbury Resources in January of 2020.
