Energy leader opens up about leadership and other things

On September 9, we joined forces with Women Empowered for a virtual question and answer session featuring Paula Gold-Williams, President & CEO of CPS Energy. She shared details about some of the challenges her company, and many companies, are facing during this global pandemic.

Ms. Gold Williams also talked about how she leads such a diverse team, how she got to where she is, and even a little about her love of dance.

Developing the Boss Lady

Go get it. Promote your work. Learn how to play office politics the right way. Be an adult and have those difficult conversations. You can be a great mom, and you can be a great leader.

Those were just a few of the key points shared by Dr. Sarah Bodner during an online seminar on June 18. It was our chapter’s first virtual seminar, and it was a huge success - well "attended", great interaction through polls, active Q&A, and positive feedback.

Call for diversity caps off “From the Wellhead to the Water” event

As the keynote speaker of the event, Sean Strawbridge mentioned the upcoming elections and the concern over the energy stock markets, but also acknowledged that now is the time to act.

“To improve the image of energy, we as an industry should improve on our messaging, including focusing on environmental and social management.” He later added, “We should also hire more women because diversity offers perspectives for success.”

After Strawbridge’s remarks, a panel weighed in and included David Blackmon, Editor, SHALE Magazine; Kris Jensen, VP Project Engineering, NuStar Energy; and Jeff Dorrow, VP Commercial NGL & Crude, EPIC Midstream. Kym Bolado, CEO, Shale Magazine, served as the moderator.

More than 75 people attended the event on February 27 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio Landmark.
