Co-Presidents’ Message

Greetings from the D.C. Chapter of the Women’s Energy Network (WEN DC)!

WEN DC is an organization that prides itself on supporting the professional development and advancement of women in the energy industry through relationships and networking.
As WEN DC enters its tenth year, we are reminded of the many accomplishments of our chapter and are excited about our future. We want to thank our outgoing board, and especially our fearless leader Emily Duncan, for their hard work, dedication, and leadership.

2020 was a productive year for the chapter, despite the extensive challenges presented by COVID-19 and switching to a virtual format for our events.  We hosted numerous virtual programming and networking opportunities, including a training event on career development, a lunchtime chat with Carole Mathieu with the Center for Energy & Climate at the French Institute for International Relations, wellness events focused on the mind and body, and a wine tasting.  Importantly, we also held a virtual panel discussion on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the energy sector.  The discussion focused on the importance of allyship – a conversation we plan to continue in 2021.

2021 will offer us a chance to diversify and further enhance our programming and events, as well as grow our membership to continue to attract the high caliber of women that make WEN DC an exceptional organization.

We would be remiss if we did not thank our 2020 sponsors for supporting WEN DC. Without the support of these groups, we would be unable to provide the level and quality of programming we currently offer, including the numerous networking and professional development events hosted throughout the year. The support of our sponsors is also critical to WEN DC’s continued growth and success.

We very much look forward to seeing you at our events in 2021! In the short term, we will be continuing to offer high-quality virtual events that give our members an opportunity to network with each other, discuss important topics in the energy industry, and to hear from guest speakers with substantial expertise in energy issues.  We will re-assess our ability to hold in-person events throughout the year, and will resume offering face-to-face opportunities when it’s safe to do so. Please do not hesitate to reach out to either of us to learn more about our chapter and how you can join.
