Discover ways to give! Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:

April 12, 2018 – NREL/Junior Achievement, Golden, Colorado
(Open to Members and Non-Members)
Registration FULL – waiting list only

JA in a Day is a special Junior Achievement program that allows a group of volunteers to adopt an entire school for a day! This is a wonderful way to join together and inspire a large amount of students. In addition to being a great team-building experience, JA in a Day provides opportunities for publicity and a chance for volunteers to give back to the community.

During a JA in a Day volunteers help educate and inspire youth about the connection between education and success the workplace, and learn about financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship. All volunteers receive a kit of hands-on materials and training prior to entering the classroom.

Recent Volunteer Events:

COLORADO ENERGY DAY – SEPTEMBER 2017

Colorado Energy Day was Colorado’s first FREE family festival showcasing exhibits focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). With over 40 volunteers, WEN Colorado was the sole source of volunteers for the day long STEM event.

Here’s what one WEN Colorado Member had to say about this experience:

“I enjoyed sharing information with the students and parents about our mentoring programs and the professional/technical career opportunities that exist for young women.” Nancy McDonald, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation

WE BUILD RETREAT – AUGUST 2017

In partnership with Grid Alternatives and Poudre Valley Electric, the WE BUILD Retreat, “She Shines”, aims to bring more women into the solar industry and support their professional advancement. This women’s only renewable energy project required lots of WOman power. Volunteers installed solar panels for a 1.9 MW system dedicated entirely to 175 low-income households.

ENERGY INDUSTRY VOLUNTEER DAY – MAY 5, 2017

In partnership with the Energy Industry Association Group, WEN Colorado organized volunteers from all energy sectors to provide breakfast to the residents of the Ronald McDonald House. Not only was our event a huge success, in sum over 100 volunteers from 65 companies across Colorado joined together for the inaugural event.

Here’s what one WEN Colorado Member had to say about this experience:

“Having the opportunity to cook for families at the Ronald McDonald House was truly a humbling experience.  I had the opportunity to sit with two mothers and their children.  Although visibly sick and in some pain, these kids were no different than my own daughter.  We talked about the Aquarium and the Zoo and our favorite animals and what we like to do for fun.  They were so grateful to us for coming in, cooking a warm meal and sitting down for a little small talk.” ~ Sonja Borodko, BOK Financial
