Shell Upstream Americas
Jan Sherman has been Vice President of Commercial & Land for Shell’s Unconventional business in Upstream America since February 1, 2014. The Unconventional business in the America’s is primarily focused on tight/shale oil and gas onshore exploration, development and production opportunities in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Jan joined the Unconventionals business in 2013 as General Manager for the South Texas assets, most notably Shell’s Eagle Ford Field. Prior to this, Jan worked as the Development Manager for Perdido in the Gulf of Mexico.
Jan started her career in 1990 with Shell Exploration & Production as a Reservoir Engineer in New Orleans. She held several reservoir and production engineering assignments, as well as a business planning role, for the Offshore and Onshore divisions in North America. In 1999, Jan started working in the Shell’s Global Deepwater organization in Houston with increasing responsibility in Exploration, Appraisal and Development projects.
Following this, Jan assumed the role of Global Enhanced Oil Recovery Manager for Projects & Technology in 2007 responsible for global EOR strategy, as well as managing several project and study teams with a focus on heavy oil, Carbon Capture & Storage, and Enhanced Oil Recovery.
Jan graduated from Texas A&M University with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering. She is married to Blake who is also a graduate of Texas A&M University. She has three children, 1 granddaughter and enjoys spending time with her family, pets and outdoor activities.
