Greater Oklahoma Chapter

Founded in 2015, the chapter encompasses the entire state of Oklahoma and surrounding areas. The Greater Oklahoma area is a vital transhipment point with many intersecting pipelines, storage facilities, easy access to refiners and suppliers making Oklahoma the pipeline crossroads of the world.

Call for 2020 Board Nominations

We’re expanding! The Greater Oklahoma chapter of WEN has been a big success growing to over 1,000 members in just four years and is the second largest WEN chapter! Due to the growth, we are expanding our Board of Directors so that we can continue to build on the momentum.

Leadership at the Board of Directors level is one of the most important contributions you can make to your professional association. Nominations are now open for the following positions for the 2020 WEN of Greater Oklahoma Board of Directors:

  • President-Elect
  • Secretary
  • Program Development Director (2) – Tulsa
  • Program Development Director – OKC
  • Community Initiatives Director – Tulsa
  • Community Initiatives Director – OKC
  • Executive Membership Director
  • Marketing Director

Details about each of these positions are included below.  If you would like to nominate yourself or another member, please complete the nomination form and submit it to greateroklahoma@womensenergynetwork.org by the close of business September 16, 2019. If you have trouble opening the form, email us at greateroklahoma@womensenergynetwork.org to request a copy be emailed to you.

Also, we are seeking volunteers for our Nominating Committee for the important task of vetting nominees and preparing the final candidate slate for the WEN OK 2020 Board of Directors. The committee will meet by conference call in mid-September. If you or someone you would like to nominate are interested, please email us at greateroklahoma@womensenergynetwork.org.

The nomination deadline is September 162019 and qualified applicants will be voted on by chapter members prior to our late October annual meeting. 

This year, the chapter is seeking nominations for the following leadership positions:

President-Elect
Three-year term as President-Elect, President and Past President:

  • Chairs the Nominating Committee and facilitate the annual nomination process;
  • Performs all duties the President delegates to her.  Upon President’s resignation, disability, death, or upon her absence or refusal to act, the President-Elect will perform the President’s duties;
  • Participates in WEN National Presidents’ meetings and conference calls;
  • Responsible for developing, managing and executing annual corporate sponsorship program;
  • Performs active partner relationship engagement with corporate sponsors and corporate members;
  • Develop and maintain effective and innovative sponsorship/partnership concepts, materials, presentations;
  • Conducts follow-up with business contacts to gather input/feedback and identify opportunities where WEN of Greater OK can supplement existing development programs;
  • Interfaces with sponsors, partners, speakers and other supporters during events throughout the year;
  • Estimated time commitment: 15 hours/month

Secretary
Two-year term:

  • Responsible for creating and archiving records of WEN board meetings, annual meeting and special membership meetings;
  • Serves as custodian of WEN OK meeting minutes and all other non-financial WEN OK documents;
  • Keeps an accurate record of the proceedings of WEN OK meetings including votes cast in elections;
  • Maintains historical account of all WEN events;
  • Manages correspondence of general email accounts;
  • Ensures the Bylaws accurately and clearly reflect WEN OK’s procedures, operations and strategic direction.
  • Estimated time commitment: 3 hours/month

Program Development Director
Two-year term:

  • Develops and implements WEN OK program strategy for OKC or Tulsa and surrounding areas;
  • Lead program development committee including Registration Chair, Speaker Series Chair, Networking Chair, Power Hours Chair, and Mentoring Circles Chair
  • Oversees and coordinates WEN OK events
  • Develops annual program calendar and plans;
  • Creates program event plans to serve members;
  • Reports effectiveness and metrics of programs and programming plans
  • Assists Mentoring Chair with planning mentoring circles kick-off and year-end events
  • Estimated time commitment: 12 hours/month

Community Initiatives Director
Two-year term:

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with organizations that align with the WEN OK mission;
  • Develops events that help encourage girls to pursue STEM related careers:
  • Establishes and manages relationships with organizations in the community and serving as the liaison with WEN OK and partner organizations;
  • Encourages membership involvement in STEM education and activities;
  • Assists with the development of leadership programs and technical education for future leaders in the energy industry;
  • Estimated time commitment: 12 hours/month

Executive Membership Director
Two-year term:

  • Collaborate with WEN Nationals, other WEN chapters, and WEN OK Board of Directors to lead the development of an executive level membership program for WEN OK in 2020 to initiate executive programming in 2021
  • Execute the executive membership strategy on identifying, recruiting, and retaining executive members
  • Review executive member candidates’ resumes and applications for completeness and criteria requirements and provide timely responses to current and potential executive membership inquiries
  • Establish quarterly programming events for executive members
  • Demonstrate executive level professionalism and strong communication skills
  • Estimated time commitment: 8 hours/month 

Marketing Director
Two-year term:

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with organizations that align with the WEN OK mission;
  • Develops events that help encourage girls to pursue STEM related careers:
  • Establishes and manages relationships with organizations in the community and serving as the liaison with WEN OK and partner organizations;
  • Encourages membership involvement in STEM education and activities;
