The WEN Ohio Board of Directors got together at the Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio on January 25th and 26th for our first Annual Business Meeting, to plan for the year ahead. This energetic group was able to map out a plan to advance the mission of WEN Ohio. As part of that plan, we are excited to offer some unique programming in the coming months that will provide networking opportunities and foster career and leadership development of women in the energy industry. As we grow our organization, we will be looking for leaders for open board positions.

After a productive day of planning, the Board of Directors was treated to a Tour of Columbus, Ohio hosted by Tom Molnar, a fabulous tour guide for Capital City Tours. The tour focused on stories of women in Columbus’ history, as well as favorite history stops. The tour concluded with a stop at the Hey Hey Bar and Grill in German Village. During Prohibition, the Hey Hey was a speakeasy, one of the few well documented in Columbus. The windows were closed up and the patrons said that they were playing cards. The gentlemen who brought the bootleg would always say, “Hey! Hey! The Beer is Here!” and they became known as the Hey Hey Boys! The name obviously stuck.
