Throughout 2019, members of the Women’s Energy Network took advantage of opportunities to acknowledge and commemorate our association's 25 years of success, growth and progress toward empowering women in the energy industry.
Since our founding in 1994, WEN has been a resource for women in the energy industry seeking opportunities to connect with colleagues, grow their professional networks, and gain valuable leadership insights and skills. As we look back at our phenomenal growth to become an organization of more than 6,000 members spanning the globe—and the countless volunteer hours that created our success—we cannot help but be humbled and inspired by those who came before us.
A special celebratory event, held September 24, drew several hundred women and men to Houston's stunning Hotel ZaZa Museum District. Highlights included a video interview with WEN Founder Karyl White, a keynote presentation from Maria Guy of GiANT Worldwide, and the presentation of the Founder's Award to long-time WEN Houston and WEN Foundation leader Dannetta English Bland of Deloitte.
In support of a service challenge issued by the Foundation for the Women's Energy Network, the charitable and philanthropic arm of WEN, chapters became involved by holding Days of Service and promoting the history, value, and contributions of WEN. The foundation set an ambitious goal of 2,500 hours of community service in celebration of 25 years, and chapters across North America answered the call.
Thank you to the hundreds of volunteer leaders and members who have contributed to WEN's continued success, including Kara Byrne (Baker Hughes) who chaired the planning committee.
