In July 2011, the Women’s Energy Network (WEN) announced the launch of the Women’s Energy Network Greater Pittsburgh Chapter. WEN is an association for professionals in the energy industry that provides networking opportunities and fosters career and leadership development.  The WEN Greater Pittsburgh Chapter facilitates social and professional networking opportunities in the region, cross-industry knowledge-sharing and educational opportunities among members from diverse professional backgrounds in all areas related to furthering women in the energy industry. The chapter's initial board of directors included representatives from Alpha Natural Resources, Chesapeake Energy, CONSOL Energy, EQT, Jackson Kelly PLLC and Stone Energy Corporation.

Former Chapter President and WEN National President (2019), Erin Magee, an attorney with Jackson Kelly, said, “The Greater Pittsburgh Chapter aims to bring together women who are seeking to network with other professionals and organizations committed to the development of women’s roles within the energy industry. With the expansion of the industry and new opportunities within the region, it is increasingly important that we support and foster the professional growth of women who work in the energy field.”

Membership is open to both women and men with active professional involvement in the energy industry.
