In 2018, the Women’s Energy Network (WEN) formed the Susquehanna Valley Chapter to offer leadership events, career development programs, and networking opportunities for members across 20 counties in north-central Pennsylvania. At its founding chapter leaders noted, “This area is deeply connected to energy, with everything from natural gas, wind, and solar to power generation and utilities. We have many people working in the energy industry here who can benefit from participating in all WEN has to offer.”

Today, the chapter continues to thrive under the leadership of a strong and engaged Board of Directors.

The Susquehanna Valley Chapter includes the counties of Bradford, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Columbia, Elk, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming, McKean, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Snyder, Tioga, Union, and Wyoming.

Members volunteer their time with area nonprofits such as the Central PA Food Bank and affiliated distribution programs, Camp Victory, and the Adopt-a-Highway clean-up program. They also host networking and professional development events to encourage membership and camaraderie among energy industry professionals. Opportunities include leadership workshops, a book club, energy industry plant tours, an annual clay shoot fundraiser, and an all-member annual meeting.

In addition to networking events and learning opportunities, WEN supports member growth through participation on chapter and national boards, as well as special programs. The Susquehanna Valley Chapter’s board includes professionals from a broad range of energy-related organizations, including oil and gas, utilities, consulting, and ancillary support services.

The Board of Directors meets regularly and gathers once a year for a full-day workshop to set goals for the year. The board is committed to brainstorming new ideas for educational programming, volunteer and networking opportunities, and nonprofit organizations to support through the group’s fundraising proceeds.
