Happy New Year from the Greater Albany Chapter of the Women’s Energy Network!

We are so happy to be starting our sixth year as a regional chapter of this global women’s organization. Our chapter board is continuing to grow and expand our events and programs to make our organization stronger. As we begin 2024, we welcome a number of new board members – Emma Marshall as President-Elect, Caley Taratus as Marketing Director, and Katelyn O’Leary as Membership Director. I want to personally thank the 2023 President Emma Maceko and the exiting board members for all their hard work and dedication.

The new board is already hard at work scheduling an exciting year of events focused on networking, education, professional development, and community giving to help our members further advance their careers in the industry.

Here is a summary of some of the important programming that we aim to bring our members in 2024:

Educational Programming:

  • We will offer a number of CLE trainings/information sessions on key energy issues impacting New York, hosted by industry and state agency subject matter experts.
  • We are planning several site tours to various pieces of interesting energy infrastructure around the area.
  • In our end-of-year survey our members mentioned a desire to participate in leadership and professional development training courses. We plan to host several of these sessions in 2024.

Networking:

  • We know there is value in networking to build and expand our professional networks, so, as always, we will take time to socialize and unwind with some fun with in-person happy hours, and our annual holiday event in December to round out the year.

Community Service:

  • Our Chapter is committed to giving back to our local communities. In 2023 we were able to collect and donate dozens of coats, as well as hates, gloves and scarves for those less fortunate. In 2024 we plan to expand our commitment and participate in events that will support local neighborhoods.

Thank you to all of our WEN members and sponsors for your support, which has allowed us to flourish over the last six years, providing networking and other programming opportunities for women in the energy industry. We pride ourselves on being a leading women’s organization within the energy and environmental industries. We look forward to seeing you all at our 2024 events!

Michelle

Sincerely,
